Last week was busy with off-farm meetings, on-farm meetings, and the monthly animal auctions. In a rare change, at this month’s auction my father bought sheep! We’ve been looking a new ram for several years. Criolla rams with colored fleece have been hard to find. This month there were several and my father took advantage and bought several. We will rotate who breeds the flock over the next few years, giving us the much needed new blood in our flock. In addition to the rams we also picked up a few white sheep. But don’t get attached, they are all destined for the dinner table.

Novedades

La semana pasada estuvo ocupada con reuniones fuera del campo, reuniones dentro del campo y las ferias mensuales de animales. En un raro cambio, en la feria de este mes mi padre compró ovejas. Llevamos varios años buscando un nuevo carnero. Los carneros criollos con vellón de colores han sido difíciles de encontrar. Este mes había varios y mi padre aprovechó y compró varios. Vamos a rotar a quién cría la majada en los próximos años, lo que nos dará la sangre nueva que tanto necesitamos en nuestra majada. Además de los carneros, también recogimos algunas ovejas blancas. Pero no te apegues, todos están destinados a la mesa.
