Meet Campero

I just realized Campero has been in a fair number of photos but I haven’t introduced him yet. Sorry. Meet Campero. A new-to-us 2 year old Border Collie cross.

He’s extremely hard to photograph. Not only is he black, he rarely stands still. He’s 13 kilos of non-stop energy. He joined the farm not quite two months ago, during the middle of the harvest. He needed a new home. We need a herding dog. While he’s still a bit young we think it’s going to work out.

Conoce a Campero

Yo realicé que Campero está en algunas fotos, pero nunca introduce él. Lo siento. Conoce a Campero.

Dogs

Several people have asked about the dogs.  Resi and Virkha are getting along well.  Virkha is the playmate that Resi needed.  Resi has taught Virkha to chase the cats, but she can’t seem to get Virkha to enjoy chicken T.V.  They both will run around the pasture playing tag and latch onto sticks for toys.  In the house, they both have their favorite spot to rest. They both like to shred T.P. tubes and empty water bottles. We do have to keep an eye on Virkha because when she gets real excited she will grab an acorn squash to chew.

They are entertaining to watch and a joy to have. They’ll be even more of a joy when Virkha outgrows the teen years, Resi stops trying to chew on Virkha’s ears, and Virkha stops trying to steal Resi’s bed, and Virkha’s play bark drops a few notes into a non-ear piercing decible. They’re a joy to have. Really.

Meet Virkha

Meet Virkha.

???????????????????????????????

She’s a black German Shepherd and will be 6 months old mid January. She joined us mid November. I’ve been looking for a friend for Resi for quite some time. After striking out talking to rescue organizations I finally managed to connect with a breeder here in Uruguay who had the health and mental stability in her lines that I was looking for. She unexpectedly had an older pup which she had reserved for possible showing. Resi and Virkha hit it off at their meet and greet and Virkha came home with us.

After the typical settling in period they’ve really bonded. Resi has taught Virkha to play in the water. Virkha has taught Resi to be more vocal (this is not necessarily a good thing). They play chase, share toys, wrestle, and generally tire each other out.

You will likely be seeing quite a bit more of Virkha in photos as soon as she gets a little older and stops moving so quickly. It’s hard to include her in photos if all we catch is a little black blur. Or the tops of her ears.
