The power outages have eaten two blog posts this week. I’m crossing my fingers that this one will make it. There’s something about losing power while WordPress tries to save a post that makes them go “poof.”

So, while I build up my patience to re-write (again) what I thought was an engaging post, I bring you the chick update for Week 4. I’ve showed y’all the space and the brooders and we didn’t change anything this week. But the chicks have changed!

To bring you the picture above I got help from the son of one of our farm hands. He has school vacation this week and has been coming to work with his father and enjoying the farm. The Cornish cross (the white) is so large he couldn’t hold them both up, so we took pictures on the ground. Same age, same food, not the same outcome. The meat chicks are eating about three times what the black layer chicks are. It’s amazing the difference in feed consumption and conversion!

¡Noticia de los Pollitos!

Esta semana los cortes de luz desaparecieron dos noticias del blog. Espero que esta noticia queda. Hay algo que paso cuando WordPress está guardando la noticia cuando corte la luz que causa la noticia a desaparecer.

Entonces, hasta tengo la paciencia a escribir de nuevo las noticias, ya escribí una vez, voy a compartir con ustedes la noticia de los pollitos por semana cuatro. Ya mostré el espacio y la caja de criadora y no cambiamos nada de los dos esta semana. ¡Pero, los pollitos cambiaron!

Para sacar la foto recibí ayuda del hijo de unos de nuestros empleados. El hijo tiene licencia de escuela esta semana y él venga a trabajar con su padre y disfrute el campo. El pollito blanco es tan grande que él no podría tener los dos en mano. Por eso sacamos las fotos al piso. Los dos pollitos tienen la edad misma, comen la comida misma, pero no son iguales. Los pollitos de carne están comiendo casi tres veces más comida que las negritas. ¡Es asombroso la diferencia en la cantidad de comida y el crecimiento!
