Typically, this time of year I’d be busy showing you pictures of my greenhouses, showing of all the early spring plants of tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, and lettuces. Not this year. This year this is what my greenhouse looks like: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In case you might think that there are seedlings somewhere in that jungle, let me assure you there are not. One of the things I’ve had to let slide this year is the garden. There hasn’t been time this year to work on the guest house, manage the households, keep the rest of the farm running, AND get the garden back into shape. We did manage to change out the rotten posts and wire in the main garden bed for new supports. But the rows haven’t been re-hilled, no the compost spread or mulch cover redone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We might yet get a spring garden in, but if we do, it won’t be soon. We have a very long growing season so my father will get fresh tomatoes at some point, but not likely before the new year. It will be the first year here on the farm where I’m not worried about late frosts killing my young tomato plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En caso de que piensas que puede estar plantines entre todo la mugre, por favor, te digo que no. Una de las cosas que ha tenido dejar pasado es la quinta. No tuvimos tiempo a hacer la construcci\u00f3n de la casita, mantener las casas, manejar el establecimiento, y tambi\u00e9n preparar la quinta. Cambiamos los apoyos en la cama principal, los postes fueron quebrados y podridos. Pero no hicimos las lomadas de nuevo, el compost no fue agregado, y no cubrimos todo con mantillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es posible que podr\u00edamos plantar algo por la primavera, pero si hacemos, no ser\u00e1 en poco tiempo. Tenemos un clima muy lindo por verduras en nuestra parte de Uruguay. Entonces, este a\u00f1o, mi padre va a tener tomates frescos, pero no antes del fin del a\u00f1o.
