Lauren commented back in June about the fluffy coats on our sheep. They are indeed looking delightfully wooly. Weather willing, we will shear as normal in early November. But once we shear, where does the wool go? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2019, not far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a corner of our second galp\u00f3n. The olive harvest machines in the front are waiting to be disassembled for storage. But all the bags, bales, and large upright barrels are wool. 4 years’ worth. I skirt during the shearing, then sort the fleece by color and staple, and bag for long-term storage. When we used to travel to the US every other year we would take fleece to a small micro-mill for processing. With no travel happening in recent years, the wool is waiting. I hope to start processing it this summer when the weather warms up if we can get space freed for long-term wool use. At the moment the rest of that space is either a temporary kitchen or being used to paint wood-work for the guest house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lauren coment\u00f3 en junio sobre el estado de los vellones de nuestras ovejas. \u00a1Es la verdad, est\u00e1n muy preciosas con todo la lana! Si permite el tiempo, esquilaremos en noviembre como en los a\u00f1os pasados. \u00bfPero, despu\u00e9s de la esquila, donde va la lana?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esto es un rinc\u00f3n de nuestro galp\u00f3n segundo. Las m\u00e1quinas enfrente son cosechadoras que usamos durante la cosecha de aceitunas. Est\u00e1n esperando a ser desarmado para guardar. Pero todas las bolsas, bolsones, y barriles son de lana. La acumulaci\u00f3n de cuatro a\u00f1os. Hago una limpieza del vell\u00f3n durante la esquila y despu\u00e9s sorteo de color y mecha, y me embolso para guardar. Cuando viajamos a los EEUU cada otro a\u00f1o llevamos lana a una lanera chica. Hace a\u00f1os no viajamos. Entonces, la lana espera. Espero que este verano, con tiempo m\u00e1s caloroso, puedo empezar a procesar. Pero solamente si puedo tener espacio libre. En este momento este galp\u00f3n est\u00e1 ocupado con una cocina y una mesada para pintar la madera (como moldura, etc.) de la casita de hu\u00e9spedes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
